ZAELAB HELPS CREATE THE FIRST EVER B2B MARKETPLACE FOR MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS
One of the largest US medical associations came to Zaelab with a unique idea: they wanted to create the first-ever online marketplace for a group of medical specialists. While the association's purchasing team worked to secure supplier participation, Zaelab set to work on the B2B digital commerce features of the online marketplace, creating an Amazon-like experience for this unique healthcare vertical.
Zaelab recommended a minimum viable product (MVP) of key B2B digital commerce features as a way to get the marketplace live as quickly as possible. This MVP approach allowed the association’s key stakeholders to provide feedback about development priorities and timing, ensuring each piece of development post-MVP was demand-driven. Applying Zaelab’s Healthcare Accelerator, Zaelab and SAP Hybris completed the initial sprint in four months, and Zaelab now provides continuous delivery to add more site features and functionality. While this delivery approach was a new operating model for the medical association, Zaelab coached the client through the MVP process, allowing them to narrow down their must-have list to get the product to market faster, stressing that new features could be added with every sprint.
Zaelab launched the online marketplace to a small test group of users, and then sought feedback every three to four weeks so that the marketplace could continue to be improved. The platform is currently available not only on PCs, but is also optimized for tablet and mobile devices to match the pace of digital business and support an omnichannel model. This healthcare client is ready to add even more features to their growing marketplace in the future thanks to Zaelab and SAP Hybris.
